Donald E. Garrett, Sr. 88, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL. Donald was born January 9, 1936, in Nauvoo, IL, the son of Estel and Emily (Cooley) Garrett. He was raised and educated in Nauvoo and Dallas City, graduating from Dallas City High School. Donald served with the United States Army from 1955-58 stationed in Germany. Donald married Hattie P. Brentise on June 2, 1960, in Little York, IL and she died August 8, 2014. He worked for at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in West Burlington, Wells Pet Food, retiring from Farmland and later worked for Bob Munson for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pitch, fishing, playing billiards and watching wrestling. He enjoyed tinkering and working on cars. Donald was always willing to help anyone that needed a lending hand. Survivors include his 3 daughters, Donna Koehler of Gilbert, AZ; Stacy Cooper of Biggsville, IL; and Wendy Brown of Monmouth, IL; son, Donald E.
