Mariam Olson Skaggs, age 78, of Nevada City, California; passed away on April 15, 2923. She cherished her family and friends, and lived her life with faith, courage, determination, and a sense of humor. Mariam Anne Olson was born on March 22, 1946, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was raised with two younger brothers, on a farm nearby. The family moved to Monmouth, Illinois, a small college town in 1959. Mariam was a graduate of Monmouth High School, and graduated with honors from the University of Denver, with degrees in speech, pathology, and psychology. She later became a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines and whereby met her future husband, Carson Skaggs. They were married on December 28, 1970, and had three children, Jason, Ryen, and Zachary. They moved to Nevada County in 1975, and Dr. Skaggs established his medical practice there.
